Throat that stings, smell of burned in the house … The Ile-de-France air is polluted this Wednesday, June 25 by the smoke of a violent fire in progress in the Val-d’Oise in Groslay. The firefighters are always at work to put out this fire that started on Tuesday evening around 10 p.m. and has been going on for hours.
The city of Groslay is currently plunged into a thick cloud of smoke. The cars are covered with ashes. The fire is located in the middle of a wooded area, bordered by mountains of waste, scrap repositories and car wrecks, which explains the very spicy smell in the air this Wednesday. A resident says he saw two plumes of smoke Tuesday evening in the area. Currently, there is only one on which firefighters continue to intervene.
On his X account, the prefect of Val-d’Oise said precautionary measures : The closure of the Copernicus college in Montmagny and the Glaisières school in Groslay. In addition, “residents close to the site were invited not to open their homes until the end of the event”.
This strong smell bothered Gordon to sleep: “I wake up with a sleep that is very deep, with an odor that takes in the throat. There is a little air flow that is smelling well,” he confides. “The smell is very powerful, very present and above all, it even stings the eyes. It clearly smells of the rubber that burns or plastic burns. It is not a smell of wood, campfire or something like that. When you look around lampposts, there is a halo effect around which is quite pronounced. At the start, I thought there was a fog. I breathe, “he said.
