Geneva will accommodate a global foundation to supervise the sensitive AI
The initiatives to supervise AI are multiplying, like the future Gaigi Foundation, carried by the Genevan Axel Mazolo.
The Genevan Axel Mazolo, IA governance expert, is initiated by the creation of the Geneva AI Governance Institute (Gaigi) Foundation.
Carried by the Genevan Axel MazoloIA governance expert, the Geneva AI Governance Institute (Gaigi) Foundation, whose creation is scheduled for the start of the 2025 school year, is an initiative that could mark a strategic step in the global regulation of so -called sensitive technologies.
According to the initiator, we mean by technology or sensitive AI an artificial intelligence system whose decision -making or any dysfunctions can significantly impact health, security, individual freedoms or the continuity of vital services.
In a context where AI applications are multiplying in defense, health or even vital infrastructure, this foundation aims to meet an increasing normative need.
Guarantee the reliability and safety of artificial intelligence
First of its kind, the foundation will not issue certifications directly. It will focus on the accreditation of certification organizations around the world, based on technical, ethical and governance standards developed in Geneva. This innovative approach aims to establish a neutral and transparent layer of regulation, while ensuring permanent quality control via regular audits. The challenge: to guarantee the reliability and safety of so -called sensitive AI systems.
At the level of its organization Gaigi governance is designed to reflect the values of Swiss neutrality: a high -level board of directors, bringing together influential personalities from international NGOs, the industrial, defense, law and academic research sector. Added to this are specialized committees, covering technical, ethical and compliance aspects. All under the exclusive supervision of the Geneva cantonal authority, without the possibility of delegation to federal or foreign bodies.
Known for its positions on the dangers of military automation and its advocacy in favor of ethical governance of AI, Axel Mazolo has established itself as an influential voice in the debates on sensitive applications of artificial intelligence. He has published and collaborated with various reflection groups around algorithmic security policies. It promotes a vision where Switzerland, and more precisely Geneva, can play a pivotal role by offering an independent reference framework in the face of international normative fragmentation.
Capital Geneva of the Sensitive AI framing
This announcement comes even though Geneva, who has just welcomed several major events dedicated to artificial intelligence, clearly displays its ambition to play a central role in digital governance. The initiative is thus part of a broader strategy carried by the local authorities: making the Lake Geneva City a world center for technological regulation. Swiss neutrality, combined with the local UN and academic ecosystem, offers unique terrain to structure transversal standards capable of exceeding geopolitical rivalries.
While the European Union, the United States or China adopt national executives Sometimes contradictory, the Gaigi offers a middle way: a confidence of confidence, neutral, flexible and rigorous. If this vision is essential, Geneva could become the world capital of the supervisory of artificial intelligences at high risk – with, in chief of the conductor, a local foundation anchored in the spirit of Geneva and determined to make technological governance a pillar of global security.
