“Obviously, we were looking forward to the announcement of the Quebec government, but we had good indications that the amount was going to be awarded to us,” said the president and chief executive officer of Port Gaétan Boivin.

Last February, it was the federal government which announced its contribution of $ 87 million.

“The ports are federal, but as a Quebec government we find it still important to put investments because we are well aware that the benefits are very important for our communities. So this is our place on the world chessboard, but also for our local economy, “added Minister Guilbault.

The work is going well while the old silos are now demolished on the quay 17.

More modern equipment will now be used for alcoa aluminum.

There is also the construction of the new quay 16 which advances well, with the backfilling of the basin.

The new space will allow the G3 company, which exports grain for more than 1000 local producers, to be more efficient.
