973 firefighters fight against the flames in Martigues, the fire of the Brocéliande forest fixed

Due to the difficulty of access for help in the Var, the A8 remains partly blocked on two lanes.

Faced with one of the biggest weekend on vacation departures, traffic will be very complicated near Fréjus from 8 am this morning.

29 hectares burned in total yesterday in Fréjus during fires. The latter were set since about 9:30 p.m. last night.

260 firefighters were mobilized last night and are around 200 today. Their objective: to practice driving operations to avoid any reactivation of the fire with particular attention on the edges.

Colonel Francis Colmas, spokesperson for French firefighters, says this morning on BFMTV that “huge” means were deployed in front of Martigues fire.

“The area is very special, already affected by fires in the years. One of the firefighters’ objectives was the protection of the biofuel refinery of the Mède, it is a very industrial area,” explains the latter.

This morning, the 973 firefighters deployed will “maintain pressure on the fire to have it”.

While “120 dwellings were threatened” by Martigues fire, 104 people were welcomed in aid centers since last night between Sausset-les-Pins and Martigues.

“At this stage, it is not possible not to identify possible degradations or impacts on houses. The assessments are underway by the firefighters,” notes the prefecture.

Firefighters can take advantage of a clearer weather this morning to fight Martigues’ fire.

“The situation is clearly improving due in particular to the humidity rate amounting to 40% and the inflection of the wind,” the prefecture said in a press release.

The workforce increases while 973 firefighters are now engaged in the fight against the fire in Martigues, supported by 320 machines, said the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône in a press release at 6:30 am.

The fire “is not yet controlled due to active homes on the edge”.

Confainment measures remain in force in the Saint Julien/Les Ventrons sectors.

120 hectares of vegetation burned yesterday in the Brocéliande forest west of Rennes. 270 firefighters are mobilized on site.

Nearly 330 firefighters were mobilized on site, supported by 65 vehicles. The arrival of four new forest fire intervention groups was planned overnight.

Around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, this fire was set by the fire soldiers.

If the firefighters described the situation yesterday as “an important forest fire”, they were in the evening in the face of a “rather positive situation” according to the sub-prefect of the department.

The weather situation is however “always delicate” near Martigues, with winds which continue to blow in gusts which can reach “70 km/h”, is alarmed this morning the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône.

The department is placed today in “high” orange alert in the face of the risk of forest fires by Météo-France, it is better than yesterday when the 13 was on maximum alert.
