After Ferrari and Lamborghini in July, it is Porsche’s turn to unveil a new GT3 model with an evolution of its 911 GT3 R. Its entry into competition is scheduled in 2026 in all competitions eligible for GT3 regulations, including the FIA WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (LMGT3).

The German manufacturer presents this new version as an evolution of the 2023 model. It has been optimized in terms of aerodynamics, balance and suspensions, while working on its behavior and maneuverability. An evolving package will also update the Porsche 911 GT3 R of the previous generation, while each new model will be offered to the client teams at a price of € 573,000 (HT).

“Our priority for this evolution was optimization”explains Sebastian Golz, project manager. “Small changes can make a big difference when they are based on a solid and proven basis. Pilot’s comments after the first racing outing during the development phase in April confirmed that we were on the right track. We are convinced that this development will allow our customers to continue to compete successfully around the world.”

The new Porsche 911 GT3 R is visually distinguished by the addition of openings on the top of the front wheels, which significantly improve aerodynamics. Associated with an optimized double triangulation front suspension, they reduce the front train train to braking, thus improving balance and braking stability.

The rear fin is now equipped with a 4 mm flap gurney, generating more support and allowing better balance of balance. The base is fully reinforced and reinforced, while the rear suspension sees its kinematics modified to reduce the sinking to acceleration.

The electrohydraulic power steering has better cooling, ensuring constant assistance, even on demanding circuits such as the Nürburgring. The cooling of the rear brakes is also more easily adjustable, which is crucial on tracks like Daytona. Finally, a new pilot air diffuser provides regular ventilation in the passenger compartment.

On the other hand, the engine part remains almost unchanged, since we find the six -cylinder flat with 4.2 -liter flat capable of delivering up to 525 hp (a figure subject to BOP variations).

The development of this 2026 specification started a year ago, in August 2024, and Porsche led many test sessions near its Weissach facilities as well as on the circuits of Sebring, Paul-Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps and Nürburgring Nordschleif. A decisive test under racing conditions took place last April during the 12 noon of Spa-Francorchamps.
