Bouches-du-Rhône firefighters were again mobilized on all fronts this Monday, July 28. While dozens of hectares have left smoke at Pennes-Mirabeau or Port-de-Bouc, the Alpilles massif was not spared.
A fire “probably accidental cause“According to the firefighters declared himself around 8 pm in Maussane-les-Alpilles, near the Isle Treret, east of the Mas des Pradelles and the old marshes of the Baux. With gusts of wind reaching more than 75 km/h on site, the fire quickly spread, with a phenomenon of jumps south of the sector.
The fire mastered after 1 hour in the morning
The rapid intervention of the Bouches-du-Rhône firefighters made it possible to master the fire after a few hours, after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29. 15 hectares of vegetation nevertheless left for smoke, but the adjoining dwellings were not threatened by the flames.
Some firefighters as well as the members of the Communal Forest fire committees are still present in the sector this morning, in order to carry out the site surveillance operations, and avoid potential recovery, while the vegetation remains very dry and the wind very sustained according to the firefighters present on site.
