AMADEA, a Superyacht of $ 300 million seized in 2022 by Washington to the Russian Oligarch Suleiman Kerimov, under American sanctions, will be auctioned, according to the company in charge of the sale.

The auctions are open until September 10, with the deposit of a minimum deposit of ten million dollars, according to a website dedicated to the sale, organized by the National Maritime Services company.

The case to be seized: a ship 106 meters long with swimming pool, jacuzzi, heliport and gym that can accommodate up to 16 passengers in eight luxury cabins.

Federal justice had rejected in March a final claim as a property on the yacht, presumed to belong to the Oligarch Suleiman Kerimov, allowing its auction.

Another wealthy Russian, Edouard Khoudaïnatov, former manager of the Russian oil and gas company Rosneft, who is not the subject of American sanctions, also said of being the owner.

But summoned by justice in 2024 to prove his statements, the man missed all his appointments for medical reasons and was definitively dismissed, the judges believing that he was only a “straw man” of Kerimov.

The Amadea had been seized in 2022 to Fiji at the request of American justice and then delivered to the United States. He is now in San Diego, California.

Its alleged owner, the billionaire and politician Suleiman Kerimov, targeted in 2018 by Washington for alleged money laundering, is one of the Russian oligarchs sanctioned by the United States and the European Union following the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The American Congress voted in 2024, under the chairmanship of Joe Biden, a law authorizing the sale for the benefit of kyiv of property of Russian oligarchs seized.

But Pam Bondi, Minister of Justice of President Donald Trump, who got closer to Moscow, announced in February the abolition of the cell “Kleptocapture” created by the Biden administration to hunt for goods from Russian oligarchs under sanctions.
