A Lévisien fires on two police officers

The event occurred around 5:50 p.m. police from the police service in the city of Lévis (SPVL) were called upon to intervene at 45 rue Déziel, in the city center of Lévis, for a man in crisis who was threatening towards some of his relatives.

The residence in question is located 56 meters from Marcelle-Mallet high school.

The suspect had a semi-automatic lead rifle in his possession of a machine gun. When the police arrived at the scene, he fired on the agents.

The latter were not affected by the projectiles. After 1 hour 30 minutes of intervention, they managed to control the suspect and stop him.

Attempted murder

Maxime Maranda, 48, appeared on Sunday for having uttered threats. In addition, additional accusations have been filed.

The suspect, who accumulates several judicial history, appeared again on Monday at the Quebec courthouse.

Maranda is accused of having tried to death for two people, to have robbed a firearm and to have had a firearm in his possession in order to commit an offense.

He also faces accusations of obstacle to the work of the police and assault on agents.
