A new digital tool at the service of cancer care paths in Burgundy-Franche-Comté

The ten-year strategy for combating 2021-2030 cancer insists on the need to have digital continuous sharing tools to improve the quality of management, treatments and safety of care.

The Communicating Cancer (DCC) file allows the organization, structuring and coordination of the care pathway in cancerology with the holding of compulsory multidisciplinary consultation meetings in the care of the patient. It is intended for health professionals involved in the cancer course. In the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, it is implemented through a single regional platform, to guarantee the good coordination of care, in complementarity of my health space.

A regional Cocstructed project: from a RCP tool to a DCC 2.0

The DCC 2.0 was able to see the light of day, in 2021, thanks to cooperation between Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the Grand-Est, managed by the ARS BFC and carried by the two regional cancer networks, the two grades* and all the partners committed.

This project was an opportunity to work collectively at the new challenges of the cancer course, by part of the continuity of a strong regional dynamic, where the old DCC tool has already been used for many years by all the actors concerned.

This tool has been widely referred and experienced in the field throughout the region. Today, almost all multidisciplinary consultation meetings are conducted in digital format.

The new DCC 2.0 platform will offer an extensive vision of the route, ranging from announcement to the patient and therapeutic proposals to the PPAC (personalized program after cancer), by the PPS Cancer (personalized care plan) and the different stages of coordination between city and hospital …

It is articulated around secure, connected and interoperable digital tools, in a regional setting of confidence supported by ARS Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in favor of the quality of the cancer paths.

A dedicated, connected and secure service offer

Its deployment was based on a rigorous approach: identity management (INS), resumption of data, interoperability with computerized patient files (DPI), good chemotherapy practices and other business tools, simulations, training, and pilot phase in real conditions. This first step, successfully carried out, made it possible to lay the foundations of generalization.

The DCC 2.0 allows:

  • to extend the digital services linked to all stages of the cancer course for all and more only RCP

  • to benefit from the secure data sharing features of data and asynchronous: MSS, DMP, Coordination file

  • to promote the homogenization of practices and the centralization of documentation

  • Improve compatibility with business tools (DPI, BPC, Chimio, Hector, etc.)

  • to facilitate the automated production of useful indicators at the local, regional and national level

  • to streamline coordination between establishments and with all actors in care

A pilot phase committed from the 1st deployments before generalization

The deployment of the DCC 2.0 begins now with a pilot phase launched in Burgundy Franche-Comté in two sectors, in close collaboration with voluntary promising professionals:

  • RCP Hematology (CHU de Dijon, CHU de Besançon, Burgundy cancer institute, CH of Mâcon, HNFC and CH of Dole, GH70 and CH Pontarlier)

  • Digestive RCP (at the CGFL-Center Georges-François Leclerc)

ARS BFC, Oncobfc and the grades engage alongside establishments and professionals to guarantee a fluid transition to DCC 2.0.

Next features will be integrated such as the personalized cancer care plan and the personalized program after cancer.

* BFC grades: regional group for support for the development of the e-health of Burgundy-Franche-Comté

* DSRC: Cancer regional specific devices

* ONCOBFC: specific regional cancer system in Burgundy-Franche-Comté
