A perfect weekend for swimming, but there is a big downside

The weather conditions promise to be summer at will this weekend in Quebec: sun, heat and felt above 35 in several regions. But beware, a disturbing element could spoil your swimming or barbecue plans.

Wall Wall Wall

A mass of hot air has settled in the province. Maximum temperatures are around or exceed 30 ° C almost everywhere, with humidx approaches 40. The North-du-Québec is not to be outdone: Kuujjuaq has set a new temperature record with the 31.4 ° C recorded on Friday.

This context of generalized heat will spread over several days, with little respite planned before the following weekend. “We are in a real summer week,” summarizes the meteorologist Nicolas Lessard.

First threat on Saturday

But who says heat and humidity, also says instability. On Saturday, a first threat of violent thunderstorms flat on western Quebec, more particularly Témiscamingue.

The planned scenario is conducive to the formation of isolated storm cells, with strong gusts, large hailings and intense rain possible. We could even see Supercellules appear, although the risks are higher in Ontario than on our side of the border.

Estrie and Montérégie could also pay the cost of an overflow of stormy conditions at the end of the day, although these are very localized events.

More structured thunderstorms on Sunday

Sunday, the situation becomes more structured. The arrival of a frontal system will bring a more marked atmospheric dynamic and a risk of thunderstorms throughout the south of the province.
