Returning home after a walk, in the evening, in the company of her husband, a resident of Villeneuve (VD) was surprised to fall, a week ago, on a royal python. The reptile had taken up residence on the landing of a door.

(Keystone-ATS) The information, revealed on Saturday by 24 hours, was confirmed by Major Yves Dubuis, commander of the SDIS (Fire and Rescue Defense Service) of Haut-Lac. Alerted by the resident of Villeneuve, the firefighters captured the snake. The men of the SDIS have undergone training to conduct this type of intervention.

However, the SDIS never had to deal with a python. There was the capture of an iguana once, recalls Major Dubuis. For snakes, interventions concern snakes or vipers. The recovery of NAC (new pets) is still the exception.

The woman who discovered the Python was questioned by 24 hours. She said she saw an “thing, which was almost fluorescent yellow, at the bottom of a door right next door” of her building. She thought “that a child must have forgotten a plastic snake”. But when she approached, the form “started to move”.
