The Saudi prince Al-Waleed Bin Khaled Bin Talal Al Saud, known as “sleeping prince”, died after spending two decades in a coma. He was 36 years old.
Known as “the sleeping prince” since his car accident in 2005, the Saudi prince Al-Waleed Bin Khaled Bin Talal Al Saud died at the age of 36. He had spent 20 years in a coma. It was his father, Prince Khaled Bin Talal Al Saud – an eminent member of the Saudi and nephew family of the billionaire Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal – who announced it. “With hearts believing in the will and the decree of Allah, and with deep pain and sadness, we mourn our beloved son: Prince al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz al Saud, may Allah make him mercy, who died today,” he wrote on X.
Prince al-Waleed-nicknamed “dede” by his family-had a car accident in 2005 while studying in a military school in London. He was 15 years old at the time. He had been repatriated to the King Abdulaziz medical center in Riyadh. Reached by serious injuries, he finally fell into a coma. For twenty years, his father chose to keep him under respiratory assistance and often shared images of himself and other family members on social networks for the restoration of his son.
Funeral prayers for the prince take place today at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah mosque in Riyadh.
