A suspect arrested after an attack on a Jewish father in Montreal

Montreal police said they had arrested a 24-year-old suspect who allegedly committed assault on a man in a park in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension district.

Several personalities from the political scene had condemned the assault on Saturday that a father of Jewish confession would have suffered at Dickie-Moore park.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) said it had arrested a suspect on Monday, adding that he was questioned by the investigators and that an accusation file would be submitted to the Director of Criminal and Criminal Prosecution (DPCP).

According to the account made Monday by the police, the suspect was first approached the victim, who was in the park with his young children, to spray him with the contents of his water bottle.

He would then have pushed the 32 -year -old man on the ground and would have given him several punches on the face as well as knee strokes.

This assault was first reported on Friday by the Montreal Journalwho broadcast a video where we see a man being beaten by another man, alongside young children.

The reasons explaining this aggression remain unknownsaid the SPVM.

The SPVM has spared no effort to find the suspect and continues his investigation in order to shed light on the circumstances of this criminal actpolice said in a statement, saying that they would thank who contributed to this outcome by sending us information that facilitated the location of the suspect.

The victim suffered injuries that do not put his life in danger.
