A British tourist was accused of attempted murder for possibly attempting to drown his daughter-in-law in a swimming pool in Florida.
The 62 -year -old man, Mark Raymond Gibbon, stayed at Solterra Resort in Davenport, Florida, at the time of the facts, according to the information communicated by the Sheriff’s Bureau of Polk on X.
The authorities were called upon to intervene for a disturbance in a swimming pool located in a backyard on Sunday evening.
According to the testimonies of the victim and the witnesses present, Mark Raymond Gibbon was in the swimming pool with his 33-year-old daughter-in-law when an argument concerning her grandchildren broke out.
“Gibbon is accused of having pushed and maintained the victim’s head underwater several times, preventing him from breathing,” read the Sheriff office in the press release.
The victim’s 9 -year -old daughter would have “jumped into the pool to try to prevent Gibbon from drowning her mother”.
Two residents of a neighboring vacation rental alerted the police, which forced the 62-year-old man to release his daughter-in-law.
Mark Raymond Gibbon, from Beaconsfield, England, was arrested and accused of assault and injuries, as well as attempted murder in the second degree.
“Because Mr. Gibbon could not control his anger, he may find himself spending much more time in Florida than he had planned,” said the Sheriff of Polk County, Grady Judd.
