The body of a 27 -year -old American tourist was found in a national park in Spain, a month after his disappearance.
Cole Henderson was discovered in Ordesa National National Park Lostido, confirmed Spanish police on Wednesday. He would have dropped about 200 meters from a mountain, according to NBC News.
The 27 -year -old man had parked his car in Torla, Spain, on July 9 before undertaking the ascent of Mount Lost, third highest peak in the Pyrenees.
His disappearance was reported on July 14, one day after the scheduled date of his return.
The police said that the body had been found “in an area difficult to access” on the north face of Mount Lost, in Bielsa, and that it “presented no sign compatible with life”.
Cole Henderson’s body was transported from the scene using a crane, according to the New York Times.
His relatives, who had launched calls for help on social networks to find him, reported that he had chosen to continue his hike alone after activating his phone’s plane mode to preserve his battery, according to Global News.
His last message to his friends was sent on July 9 at 2 p.m., near Monte Perdido, according to information shared by her friend Max Senoff.
The concern would have manifested itself when the hiker did not take his flight scheduled for July 13, which was to lead him to Amsterdam.
His disappearance had triggered a vast operation involving rescuers, dog handlers, helicopters and drones.
