Advantages and disadvantages of the Lenovo Thinkbook Plus Oled Mobile screen

We recently finished reviewing the 14 -inch more genkbook Lenokbook with an OLED 16.7 -inch roller screen. Although it is far from the first unconventional laptop of Lenovo, it is undoubtedly one of the most useful and practical concepts of the company so far. Here are some of the main advantages and disadvantages of the screen, after spending several weeks with the device.

For: a 16.7 -inch OLED screen in a 14 -inch laptop

The Gen6 thinner Thinkbook is the only laptop whose screen size is greater than the diagonal of the chassis thanks to the roller screen. Your 14 -inch screen turns into a 16.7 -inch screen at a single pressing on a button.

Disadvantage: a little heavy

The 14 -inch chassis can accommodate a large 16.7 -inch screen, in addition to the engines that add weight to the entire system. Traditional valve models like the MacBook Pro 14 can be lighter by a few hundred grams, which facilitates travel.

Pro: it is perfect for restricted spaces or flights

As the screen unfolds upwards, it is not necessary to have a spacious desk to use the large screen, unlike the ThinkPad X1 Fold or the Duo Zenbook. The large 16.7 -inch screen can be used almost wherever you use a classic 14 -inch laptop.

Disadvantage: expect a certain attention in public

Passers -by or headquarters will look at your big expensive screen, whether you want it or not. Hopefully you will not work too often on sensitive documents in public, because the very large OLED vision angles could do you more harm than good.

Advantage: battery life is still quite long

Although the autonomy is lower than that of a classic 14 inch, the very effective Lunar Lake processor compensates for part of this loss with an autonomy of more than 10 hours in WLAN mode during our tests.

Disadvantage: the screen only works in portrait mode

If you like to watch movies or have two windows side by side, you will be disappointed to learn that the 16.7 -inch screen has not been designed to be pivoted. In fact, if you try to rotate the screen via Windows, you will get an error message.

For: there is no learning curve

Unlike the ThinkPad X1 Fold and its dependence on accessories, or the ungles of view and the un practical keyboard of the ZenBook Pro 14 Duole Thinkbook rolled up is much easier to use from an ergonomic point of view.

Disadvantage: the opening angle is limited

The lid can only open at around 120 degrees, while most valves can open at 150 degrees, even 180 degrees. This can make the Thinkbook more Gen6 difficult to use on the knees, the sofa or the bed when you do not have access to a flat desk.

Advantage: you benefit from DCI-P3 colors and a quick refresh rate of 120 Hz

The screen being OLED, all the advantages of this technology are automatically available, in particular extended DCI-P3 colors, perfect black levels and the absence of ghost images, which allows you to make amateur or professional levels.

Disadvantage: the screen is not bright enough for a comfortable outdoor viewing

With a maximum of 400 nits, the brightness of the screen is in the average of the 14 inch category. The MacBook Pro 14 is more than 50 % brighter, which allows you to better control reflections.

Disadvantage: you will miss the 16.7 -inch screen if you come back to a 14 -inch laptop

The large 16.7 -inch screen improves the user’s experience in almost all scenarios. Once you will be used to navigating, sending emails or opening spread sheets on this large screen, you will feel cramped on a 14 -inch laptop.

Of course, this model has other advantages and disadvantages once you have deepened the system. Consult our full gender Thinkbook review to find out more about Lenovo’s laptop.
