The American consumer price index indicates that prices increased by 12.4% for steak and 10.3% for chopped beef in the past year.
This increase in the price of this meat prized by the Americans is a new tile for consumers after the exorbitant price of eggs that Donald Trump had promised to lower in his election.
But if the price of eggs is finally down in the United States, that of beef may be more complicated to bring down, according to an economist interviewed by CNN.
“Beef is much more complicated than eggs,” said Michael Swanson, chief economist of agriculture at Wells Fargo.
These record prices that the Americans are currently experiencing themselves to be preparing for a decade, according to CNN, due to the reduction of herds, droughts and the increase in beef imports, while demand remains high.
