Air Canada offers 32.5 % to its on -board agents to avoid the strike

Air Canada has just put on the table an overall wage increase of 32.5 % over four years to its on -board agents to avoid a strike.

The air carrier would increase total remuneration in the first year, including benefits and bonuses, by around 20 %, reports Bloomberg.

As requested by the union, Air Canada would also agree to pay on -board agents for part of the time spent on the ground.

Tuesday morning, the union announced that the 10,000 staff members of Air Canada on -board agents voted 99.7% in favor of the strike.

This work stoppage could be effective from August 16, which worries users since the airline could be forced to reduce operations and even cancel flights a few days before this date.

The president of the Natasha Stea union said on LCN’s waves on Tuesday that her group was hopeful of coming to an agreement before August 16, which would avoid hundreds of thousands of travelers to screw up their plans.

Air Canada makes nearly 700 flights per day for around 130,000 passengers.
