Air Canada on -board agents could issue a strike notice after midnight tonight

It is the earliest that they are authorized to do so taking into account the obligation to give a notice of 72 hours.

The union representing around 10,000 Air Canada on -board agents could announce its intention to trigger a strike, if an agreement is not concluded by the end of the day.

The earliest time when the on -board agents could leave their post this Saturday, August 16, at 0:01 (HE). Since the union must give a notice of 72 hours before triggering a strike, this means that it could announce its debuting intentions on Wednesday at 0:01 (HE).

Air Canada said yesterday that it “remains at the negotiating table and focuses on the achievement of negotiated regulations” without disturbing trips.

Flights continue to be operated as planned, but the airline specifies that in the event of disturbances, it will argue customers by email and text message before their trip.

For passengers whose route would change during travel, Air Canada claims that it will explore all the options in order to transport them to your destination, including the reservation of flights to other carriers.

More than 10,000 Air Canada and Red Air Canada on-board agents voted 99.7 % in favor of a strike mandate earlier this month. The vote was held from July 28 to August 5. The main discord points remain remuneration, unpaid work, daily allowances, pension, working rules and lying down.

Yesterday, Air Canada on -board agents organized a day of national action at several Canadian airports, including that of Montreal, in order to denounce the use of widespread unpaid work throughout the air transport sector and to claim a fair collective agreement.
