Already two fire starts at the start of the day in the Pyrénées-Orientales

The first alert was given around 6 a.m. A fire broke out in the Parc Saint-Vicens de Perpignan. He would have very quickly been mastered by the firefighters. But a few tens of minutes later, the fire soldiers also had to intervene between Sainte-Marie-la-Mer et Villelongue-de-la-Salanque:

A reed fire, threatening several hectares, has been reported. More than 120 firefighters were quickly dispatched to the scene. Around 7:30 am, the flames were fixed. The origins of these two claims remain unknown for the time being.

Exceptional fire risk

As a reminder, five sectors of the Pyrénées-Orientales were placed in exceptional fire risk, this Sunday, August 17. The circulation of vehicles on the roads of massifs is prohibited. Are concerned:

  • RD 86 (municipalities of Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer)
  • RD 86A (commune of Port-Vendres)
  • The municipal road of Port-Vendres since the DR 86b leading to the Sémaphore and the Béar lighthouse
  • The municipal road of Port-Vendres since the RD 914 leading to Fort Béar
  • The Hameau de Lavall route (municipalities of Argelès-sur-Mer and Sorède)
  • The RD 84 leading to the Priory of Serrabone (commune of Boule d’Amont)
  • The 38 RD leading to Royal Force (Moncor of Montner
  • The Route de Périllos (commune of Opoul-Périllos).

Hike and any use of fire in these sectors are prohibited. The authorities call for increased vigilance of all the inhabitants of the department. “A simple spark can become uncontrollable,” warns SDIS 66.
