The Kremlin called on Monday to show “great caution” in nuclear threats after the deployment on Friday by US President Donald Trump of two submarines, in response to comments from the former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev.

“We believe that everyone must be very cautious in their nuclear statements,” said spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitri Peskov, in a pheffling in which AFP participates.
Peskov also said that the two American submarines announced as deployed by Mr. Trump “are already in service” permanently.
“We do not want to let ourselves be drawn into such a controversy,” he added.
Trump had made this decision on Friday in reaction to statements deemed provocative by ex-president Dmitri Medvedev, who has multiplied martial comments for Westerners on social networks since 2022.
He did not specify where exactly the submarines would be sent, nor if they were submersibles with nuclear propulsion or atomic warheads.
