Football: An AARAU FC jersey sold 1,200 francs: beware of the carrot!
The Argovian club had sold a few hundred “collector” sweaters in 2024. Today, an individual sold them on the internet at almost ten times the basic price.
The canton of Argovie and the carrots, this is a good wedding! This is certainly what FC Aarau thought when he created, in the spring of 2024, a jersey “Rüeblilandister” (national carrot champion). Basically, this wacky jersey was only to be an April Fool. Against all expectations, the sweater was however strongly requested and the current leader in the Challenge League classification decided to market it for a limited period.
More than a year after this superb marketing stroke made by FC Aarau, a particularly cunning seller lavored the good deal with the t-shirts in question. On a well -known auction platform in Switzerland, the very coveted collectibles are thus offered in several sizes at the immediate purchase price of … 1,200 francs.
Independent of the will of FC Aarau
If knitting were to be sold at this price, the profit margin made by the third party would be almost ten times higher than the original price. Last May, the FCA orange jersey was, for example, available for a short period at a price of 129 francs on the online store of the Argovian club.
Contacted by “20 minute”, FC Aarau said that “a few hundreds of Rüeblilandmeister jerseys had been sold” at the time. Before specifying that the current auction of this cult object was completely independent of its will.
After a brilliant start to the season (three matches, three victories) in the League challenge, the players trained by Brunello Iacopetta won their 1st Tour de Cup in Switzerland on Saturday. At the Niedermatten stadium, they beat the neighbor of FC Wohlen (1st league) on the 1-3 score.
