An Algerian diplomat referred to by an arrest warrant

An international arrest warrant was issued against a former senior official of the Algerian Embassy in France, following the removal of the Algerian influencer Amir Dz.

While President Emmanuel Macron expressed this week of his desire to adopt a firmer position vis-à-vis Algeria, the Amir Dz affair resurfaces in the news. On April 29, 2025, the influencer and opposing the regime of the Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Amir Boukhors, known as Amir Dz, had been removed in the Paris region, then released on May 1. This case had rekindled tensions between France and Algeria, whose relations have gradually deteriorated since the summer of 2024.

At the end of the investigation carried out after this incident, the national anti -terrorist prosecution (PNAT) requested an arrest warrant, then issued a high official of the Algerian Embassy in Paris. This mandate, targeting SS, an Algerian 37 years old, was issued on July 25 by an investigating judge for arrest, kidnapping and sequestration in connection with a terrorist enterprise, as well as for association of criminal terrorist criminals. “It would be perilous to consider that the arrest of political opponents on French territory is part of the functions of a diplomat. Once his allegedly diplomatic mission is finished, the Algerian counterintelligence agent only had functional immunity granted to state agents, “said Eric Plouvier, lawyer for Amir Boukhors.

A relief for Amir Dz

In an inquiry report dated April, the Directorate General for Internal Security (DGSI) directly involves this former senior official of the Algerian Embassy in Paris. Presented as an “Algerian non-commissioned officer of the DGDSE”-an Algerian intelligence service-SS would have stayed in Paris under the diplomatic coverage of first secretary of the embassy. Man would probably no longer be in France and could invoke possible immunity. “It is an important advance to avoid, as much as possible, the impunity of the Algerian agents involved in facts of obvious gravity,” reacted Me Plouvier.

At least seven people, including an Algerian consular agent, have already been indicted since the start of the legal proceedings. They are suspected of having been mainly performers acting against remuneration, without political mobile. Advanced investigations is “relief,” said Amir Boukhors. “I saw death” during his abduction, which lasted “27 hours”, in a forest in Seine-et-Marne, he says. Located in France since 2016, Amir Boukhors, 42, has a million subscribers on Tiktok. He obtained political asylum in France in 2023.
