The mascot of the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant chain, in the United States, is intended to distract customers and more particularly children. But those who were present on July 23 in the establishment of Tallahassee, Florida, were rather traumatized.

They have indeed seen the police disembark and summon the mascot, a giant mouse, to surrender. The employee who wore the costume attempted to resist, but very quickly, the police handle it and left the restaurant, says ABC News. The scene has been filmed and children are seen in the background who seem very frightened to see Chuck e handcuffed.

Police intervened following the complaint of a client who said he had his debit card stolen on June 28 in this restaurant. The victim even managed to identify the culprit by going to stores where his card had been used and by viewing the surveillance images. When the police called to the restaurant to say that she suspected the employee who managed the coupons at the entrance, the establishment told him that he was now working as a mascot.

Controversial intervention

On social networks, the case has aroused many indignant comments. People blame the police for handling the mascot in front of the children instead of waiting to be outside. We also see an image on which a policeman removes the suspect’s mask once outside. The police replied that they had no instructions provided for the cases of arrests of disguised people.

It is only in the parking lot that the police remove the mask of the suspect who is handcuffed.
