Attempted abduction: five suspects were arrested

The five suspects sought in connection with an attempted abduction having taken place in Mercier last week were pinned by local police.

It was on his Facebook page that the Mercier police, in Montérégie, made the announcement at the end of the day on Monday, stressing that it was following a call to the population that the investigation had led to the arrest of young individuals who are 17 or 18 years old.

“Thanks to the dissemination of the public opinion and the precious collaboration of citizens, decisive information has been obtained,” reads the Facebook publication of the police service.

After being met by the investigators, the suspects were released under conditions, while the director of criminal and criminal proceedings (DPCP) of Valleyfield will assess their files.

Recall that, on July 27, the police were contacted in connection with this event which took place in the afternoon.

A group of young people circulated by bicycle when a van began to slow down at their height before leaving and then performing several half-farms to return to them, according to the police.

In the third maneuver, the sliding door of the vehicle opened and two occupants tried to grab a 12 -year -old girl who was driving with her friends. In the wake of events, the young person lost control of her bike before falling to the ground. The van then continued its road to the west, towards Sainte-Martine.
