Automix: My favorite hidden function of the Beta of iOS 26

I will be frank: I had completely missed this announcement. Consequently, when it is unveiled at the Apple WWDC 2025 conference. Meanwhile, With the next version of iOS expected in the fall. Moreover, Apple Music will be able, if you wish, chain the songs as a DJ would, by superimposing them slightly.

I took advantage of the recently launch of the Public Beta version of iOS 26 to try the Automix. and I completely fell in love.

First of all, rest assured, the effect is most of the time subtle. With the songs that end in a well felt way. the Automix only shorten time between the two pieces that follow.

Here. for example, nothing hides the last guitar agreement heard on Isabelle by Jean Leloup:

Rapid transitions of the genre are the most common. A chance. automix: my favorite hidden function moreover, because I would not have wanted the Beastie Boys (or no other artist, by the way) to encroach on Jim Corcoran:

Automix also allows itself to cut the long silences at the end of a song, and in some cases, the very long melted.

And if a song ends with an exit fond. that the next starts with an opening fade and that the two pieces are roughly the same pace, these can sometimes be combined, like here, with Stefie Shock and Blondie:

However, these transitions are rarer.

And even more rarely, transitions can even be more daring. This is sometimes the case when a song ends with a sound effect. spoken words, which can be stretched until the next song.

Note that the Automix works in the reading lists (both yours and the Apple), but not when you listen to an album. Fortunately.

To try the Automix, you can install the public beta version of iOS 26 or iPad OS 26, then select the new Automix button, which now appears to the right of the one to play the pieces in the music application. On an iPad, it appears rather at the top right of the screen, in landscape mode.

Note that the beta version of iOS can contain automix: my favorite hidden function bugs. and drain the battery of your iPhone a little more than usual, it is therefore recommended to install it on a secondary device only, pending the official launch of the next Apple operating systems in the fall.
