197 km long, with 2,450 m of elevation gain, the stage will end on a circuit which will twice borrow the famous coast, the first time fifteen kilometers from the goal, then on arrival.
It will be the fifth time that the Tour has ended in Mûr-de-Bretagne after the Cadel Evans victories in 2011, Alexis Vuillermoz in 2015, Dan Martin in 2018 and Mathieu Van der Poel in 2021.
Four years ago, the Dutchman spoke a torrent of emotions by signing his first victory on the Tour to put on the yellow jersey that his grandfather, Raymond Poulidor, who died a few months earlier, had never worn.
“Ripe-de-Bretagne becomes something traditional, explains the director of race Thierry Gouvenou. We remember the tactics of Mathieu Van der Poel the last time. He had attacked to get bonuses. This year, there is no bonus. But we can have a great explanation in the final climb. Sprinters will not have a say. “
On the other hand, it is very possible that Tadej Pogacar wanted to win a new victory in this effort for pure purses after a 2 km climb to 6.9% average.
On the way, the peloton will go through Yffiniac, the hometown of Bernard Hinault, the opportunity to pay tribute to the last French winner of the Grande Boucle, in 1985.
Departure in Saint-Malo at 12:10 p.m. (real at 12:25 p.m.), arrival in Mûr de Bretagne at 4:51 p.m. (schedule calculated over an average of 44 km/).
