Battlefield 6 can burn your graphics card, this Zotac RTX 5090 paid the price

A Zotac RTX 5090 graphics card caught fire during a game session on Battlefield 6 beta. Is this card dangerous or is it an isolated problem?

A rare and worrying incident has been reported by a user on the Gamer TW forum. A Zotac RTX 5090 AMP Graphics Card Extreme Infinity caught fire during a game session on Battlefield 6. The user, known as the pseudonym “York4517”, described the incident in detail, saying that it had seen flames for about ten seconds.

A RTX 5090 Crame because of Battlefield 6

According to the user testimony, the fire broke out in the junction between the graphics card and the motherboard. The game froze, and flames appeared almost instantly. The shared images show significant damage to the Graphics Card PCB, especially at the MSVDD rail, which feeds the memory subsystem.

The photos published on the forum show traces of burns on the motherboard and liquid residues on the components. The MSVDD rail, which is not equipped with active cooling, seems to be the starting point for the fire. This lack of cooling could have contributed to an ineffective dissipation of heat, although additional investigations are necessary to confirm the exact cause of the incident.

A concern only on the Zotac RTX 5090?

This incident raises questions on compliance with international electrical safety standards, which stipulate that consumer electronic devices should not produce open flames, even in the event of failure. Although the components can melt, produce smoke or carbonize in the event of dysfunction, they must be eaten quickly to limit the risks. Nothing seems to report on the RTX 5090 from Asus.

The user said he returned the graphics card to the manufacturer for a more in -depth investigation. It remains to be seen if Zotac will be responsible for this incident and will offer a replacement or repair. If the survey reveals that the fire is due to a manufacturing defect, this could cause serious problems for the manufacturer.
