The list of orange departments “will be completed” by “six other departments which are the lot, Aveyron, Loire, Isère, Drôme and Ardèche”, bringing eleven the number of departments affected, announced during a press conference Olivier Caumont, permanent forecast for the public establishment.

“From tomorrow will start the second heat wave in the summer of 2025 on the scale of France, which will be the 51st heat wave identified by Météo France since 1947,” said François Jobard, forecaster, evoking “an episode which will mainly concern the South regions and which will be quite durable”.
“From this Thursday, temperatures will display a widespread increase, the beginnings of a scorching episode which will start Friday in the Southwest and the Center-East. Strong heat will tend to increase and extend the following days. They will continue at the beginning of next week,” said Météo-France in its 4:00 p.m. bulletin.
“In the afternoon we expect from 36 to 38 ° C locally 39 ° C on a large part is from Occitania and 35 to 37 ° C (locally) 38 ° C in the center-east”, specifies the bulletin.
This warming is explained by “a real high pressure cover with hot air in the low layers (atmosphere) but also at altitude”, detailed François Jobard.
