The leader of an opposition party in Israel, Benny Gantz, launched a call on Saturday evening to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and to two other opposition leaders to form a temporary government allowing to release all the hostages to Gaza by dismissing the extreme right of power.
These hostages had been removed on October 7, 2023 during the unprecedented attack on the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in Israel, which sparked the war in the Gaza Strip.
Since the departure of his coalition in July of Ashkénazes Ultraorthodox Parties, Mr. Netanyahu has no more absolute majority in Parliament and has been dependent on his extreme right allies, who refuse any hostage liberation agreement with Hamas, and plead for the continuation of the war until the annihilation of the Palestinian movement in Gaza.
“I call Netanyahu, Yaïr Lapid and Avigdor Lieberman. It is time to form a government of prisoners’ repurchase“Said Benny Gantz, head of the National Union Party (Center right) by referring to a liberation from the fifty hostages, living or dead, still detained in the Gaza Strip.
Yaïr Lapid, chief of the first opposition party, Yesh Atid (Center), has 24 deputies at the Knesset. Mr. Lieberman, leader of the nationalist party Israel Beiteinou, has 8, as much as Mr. Gantz.
With the 32 deputies of Mr. Netanyahu’s party, Likoud (right), these three parties could form a coalition with a majority of 72 seats (out of 120) in Parliament.
