A rental building caught fire on Monday evening at the Faubourg du Jura in Bienne on Monday evening. An apartment was completely destroyed by fire, but no one was injured.
(Keystone-ATS) Upon arrival of the intervention forces, the first floor apartment was already entirely the prey of the flames. Bienne’s professional firefighters were able to control quickly and then turn off the fire, the Bernese cantonal police said on Tuesday in a press release. The paramedics examined three people on site as a preventive basis.
All apartments have been damaged by the fire and the release of smoke. Contacted by Keystone-ATS, the cantonal police specify that these are eight dwellings that are uninhabitable. Temporary accommodation has been set up for residents of the building.
The Faubourg du Jura was closed to traffic for several hours to allow the work of firefighters. A guard was also organized to monitor the home and the police opened an investigation.
