There is something to smile when you know that Microsoft and Openai are very close even if Bill Gates has not been at the head of the Redmond firm for a while. Sam Altman, manager of Openai, had presented GPT-5 as the “smarter than the smartest person you know”except that reality is quite different.

Many users believe that GPT-5 works very badly with many hallucinations but also a more formal and cold tone. The new model does not even manage to solve problems of maternal level and against an uproar, Openai had no other choice than to bring back GPT-4O but this time behind a Paywall while this AI was once free.

If performance is disappointing Sam Altman, attributes them to the automatic switching system between models. As a reminder, when you send a quick to GPT-5, the AI automatically selects the most suitable models.

Two years ago, in October 2024, Bill Gates anticipated this disappointment during an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt. The co-founder of Microsoft estimated that the OPENAI AI had reached a tray contrary to the convictions of the startup which misted enormously on GPT-5.

Bill Gates spoke of an impressive leap between GPT-2 and GPT-4 but was skeptical about OpenAi’s ability to reproduce such a difference. Finally, GPT-5 improvements are very poor compared to GPT-4.

Bill Gates suggests that Optai has reached a glass ceiling with GPT-4 and that you need new research to take the next step. Microsoft’s co -founder argued by speaking of astronomical IA development costs between training costs and considerable calculations.

Sam Altman refutes the prediction of Bill Gates

This situation is not surprising since even competing companies like Anthropic and Google, to whom we owe Claude and Gemini respectively, are struggling to feed their advanced models because of a lack of quality content for training and enormous costs in this race for innovation.

As for Sam Altman, he refutes Bill Gates’ words explaining that there is “No wall” and that Optai has not reached its knowledge limit. Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO, shares the optimistic vision of the leader of the start-up who thinks that AI is a speculative bubble about to explode.

In short, GPT-5 may have been available for a few days, the controversy swells around this model definitively judged as less efficient by users who regret that Sam Altman did not hold its promises. The IA revolution is far from being that promised with this new model.
