Blocked in traffic jams on the highway, dozens of motorists guided by their GPS take vineyards

On August 9, faced with traffic jams on the A75 between Lodève and the Pas de l’Escalette tunnel, many motorists followed their GPS by the Lergue path, a narrow route and not adapted to transit. Fearing risks for security and maintenance, the mayor of Pégairolles-de-l’Esclette decided to close access to the level of the Gué de l’Oulette.

The corks on the A75 in the South North direction, between Lodève and the Tunnel du Pas de l’Escalette, on Saturday August 9 at the beginning afternoon, prompted motorists to borrow the secondary network by Soubès, via the RD25 and Pégairolles-de-l’Escalette via the RD149.

But there are dozens of drivers who, guided by their GPS, were committed by the so-called Lergue path, which beyond the Arques activity park, passes under the Brèze viaduct and runs along the A75 then below the downward path. Except that if the road which serves the treatment plant and two nearby houses is properly paved at the start, thereafter, it is an irregularly coated vineyard on the remaining four kilometers which lead to the N ° 51 of Pegairolles exchanger. A narrow route where you do not meet, completely unsuitable for transit traffic, even partial, and in particular to lowered vehicles.

The mayor closes the path

In the event of an accident, fire, vehicles or breakdown, help and convenience stores would have all the sentences in the world to go there. Not to mention the damage caused to the path whose maintenance is the responsibility of the municipalities.

Warned, the mayor, Isabelle Périgault, made the decision to close the Lergue path to the right of the ford of Uneta to prevent this type of escape to say the least incongruous or even dangerous.
