Body found in the Seine: a second survey for open homicide

Scanners practiced on the four corpses have allowed “To learn that a second body had violence lesions”, said the prosecution in a press release.

On Wednesday, a body floating in the Seine had been spotted by a passer -by near the Choisy bridge, which links this suburban city to Créteil.

By inspecting the area, the firefighters and the police had discovered three other submerged bodies.

“The discovery of four bodies immersed in the Seine in a limited perimeter could be explained by the configuration of the river at this place”specifies the prosecution in its press release.

The river flows more slowly at this level, which increases the risks of drowning but could also explain that bodies drowned upstream are carried by the current to this area, considers a source close to the file which excludes any hypothesis.

A first body, which has been submerged for less long, is now identified. This is‘”A man, aged in his forties and domiciled in Val-de-Marne”.

As of Thursday, “violence lesions led to retain the hypothesis of a death of criminal origin” and an investigation for voluntary homicide had been entrusted to the criminal brigade of the Parisian judicial police.

As for the other three corpses, including that for which the second investigation was opened, “Having regard to the very degraded state of the bodies found, because of their immersion in water, it was only possible to determine that the deceased were three men, adults, without more precision”.

“Many technical examinations (especially medico-legal) and investigations are underway in particular to establish the identity of the three deceased unidentified, but also the circumstances and the date of death of all the bodies found”, adds the prosecution.
