Detected for the first time on June 29 in Savoy and not transmitted to humans, the disease has now been found in 64 households distributed in a dozen municipalities in the two departments. She affected 35 farms, said the ministry. All the cattle of affected farms will have to be euthanized, he recalled, without specifying their number.

The vaccination campaign for some 310,000 cows in a radius of 50 kilometers around DNC households is continuing its course. For its part, the Paysanne Confederation of Savoy demands the end of the policy of total felling of affected herds.

“Saturated incinerators”

“The epidemic remains on the same (geographic) sectors, but (…) still moves to the rhythm of flies and tapes” which propagate it by pricking the cows, notes Philippe Calloud, spokesperson for the union. “Insecticides do not kill all insects, and a good part of the insects leave on the herds next door and disseminate the epidemic.”

According to him, “certainly more than 1600, 1,700 animals” have now been shot. The veterinarians have delivered “a huge work to vaccinate, and today we see that it is useless, since we continue to make preventive slaughter, animals in excellent health, and to incinerate meat”, he says, deploring a policy “which exceeds understanding for us, and all that at the expense of the taxpayer”.

“The incinerators are completely saturated”. The authorities “had to find other incinerators urgently” outside the two departments affected by the disease, said Calloud.

“Fake news”

The Minister of Agriculture Annie Genevard, for her part, indignant on Monday evening on X against “false information” reporting in the Cantal of carvin carcasses where they are likely to disseminate the disease.

“Stop spreading false information on such a serious subject!” The carcasses are disinfected, disintected, tarnished and transported in bins treated every day. State services are mobilized on site to control each stage, ”writes the minister, addressing the sovereignist on the right Florian Philippot who relayed a video in this direction.
