British far-right activist Tommy Robinson arrested, suspected of “assault and injuries”

British far -right activist Tommy Robinson was arrested on Monday at Luton airport north of London, transport police announced to question him after an altercation in the London metro in which he is suspected of being involved.

Without appointing it, the British Transport Police said in a statement that it had arrested on Monday “a 42 -year -old man from Bedfordshire in connection with an assault at St Pancras station (in London) on July 28”.

The arrest took place at Luton airport shortly after 6.30 p.m., after the British authorities received the information he “arrived aboard a plane from Faro” in Portugal, she added.

Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was placed in detention and is suspected of “assault and injuries”. He was wanted “after leaving the country for Tenerife early on July 29, after the incident having occurred in St Pancras,” said the police.

According to images that have become viral on X shortly after the incident in question, we see a man on the ground in a corridor of the metro and Tommy Robinson agitated by his side, who says to a passer -by “he provoked me”, before moving away quickly.

Founder in 2009 of the Groupuscule English Defense League (English Defense League) from the Hooligan movement, Tommy Robinson has already been sentenced several times, in particular for disturbances to public order, and imprisoned in 2018 for contempt.

He must be tried in October 2026 for refusing to give the PIN code of his laptop, which the police demanded under the extensive powers which they have within the framework of the 2020 terrorism law.

Very active on social networks where he is notably followed by 1.4 million people on X, he is also accused of having helped to stir up the wave of antimigrant and Islamophobic riots that rocked the country last summer.
