The big winner of the “Ugly Dog Contest” 2025 is called Petunia. And behind her touching look, she hides a survivor’s journey.

Petunia: A sweet first name, for an equally sweet hair ball. At least in the figurative sense. Petunia is the name of the Bulldog without the winner of the “Ugly Dog Contest” 2025, the concours of the ugliest dog in the world. Behind its provocative name, the event has been celebrated for decades for decades not like the others.
In this competition which aims to promote the adoption of unusual dogs, “the absence of hair, poorly aligned teeth or even eyes that do not look in the same direction are not faults, but many marks of pride”, writes the famous «New York Times».
A dog with a painful course
Aged two, Petunia comes from a cross between a French bulldog and an English bulldog. Her journey is that of a survivor: born in Las Vegas, she grew up in the precarious conditions of a poorly kept private farming, between negligence and insalubrity.
Speed up by an association, she was then transferred to Oregon, where she finally received the care she needs. It was then adopted by its current owner, which finally offers it the warmth of a home.

Today, Petunia is doing well, even if she hardly pays attention to her new title. She succeeds Wild Thang, winner of the 2024 edition, another original dog, who shares with her the same sweet eyes.
