Girons conquer French -speaking Switzerland
This Vaudoise and Friborg tradition is established in the Jura. Reflections are underway in Valais, Geneva and the Neuchâtel mountains.
The cantonal festival of the Vaud Campagnard Youths in Givrins in 2024 managed to attract companies and the curious of the whole canton of Vaud.

The tradition of the Gironsthese festive meetings organized by the country youth, now extends beyond the cantons of Vaud and Friborg. The Jura is hosting its first edition in Noblemont this weekend.
The youth of the Franches-Montagnes took the initiative to organize this event which takes place from July 11 to 13 on the site of the Festival du Chant du Gros. The preparations have mobilized many volunteers to arrange sports jousting land, concert scenes and bars.
“It’s really A just incredible life experience To say that, for a year, we all put ourselves together to build something with his hands, to get proud and make his village proud, ”explains Axelle Favre, Vice-President of Central The Vaud Federation of Campagnard Youthto the RTS.

Enthusiasm in the Franches-Montagnes
Alexandre Frésard, president of The youth of the Franches-Montagnesconfirms the enthusiasm aroused by this initiative: “In any case, we really have only positive feedback from people.” The organizers have already recorded registration for sports games and campsite.
If the event is carried by the youth, it is not exclusively intended for them. “The goal is to attract all generations and to please everyone, and not to be centered only on youth,” says Alexandre Frésard.
The organizers hope that this first edition will be followed by others. An original system will determine future hosts: youth who will win sports games will be responsible for organizing the following edition.
Melissa Tschudi, member of the organizing committee, sums up: “Our expectations is that there are people who come and that it continues, that other youths organize themselves, that people see the work we have provided and that people have especially having fun.”
This Jura initiative could be emulated in other French -speaking cantons. Reflections are already underway in Valais, Geneva and the Neuchâtel mountains to import this traditional festive model.
