Chinese authorities ask companies to do without Nvidia fleas

NVIDIA can again, and recently, sell specialized fleas for artificial intelligence to Chinese companies. These are H20 chips, a little less powerful than the best models, which had been developed specifically for the Chinese market in order to escape the American restrictions established since 2022.

In April, even the export of these H20 chips had been suspended by the Trump administration. The latter therefore returned to her decision Monday in exchange for the payment by Nvidia to the government of the United States of 15% of income from sales of these specialized chips for artificial intelligence.

The position of the Chinese authorities, which advise against using these chips, especially for public applications, will not help Nvidia restore its sales in China.

The Middle Empire is the world’s leading market for semiconductors. Chinese state media openly question the safety and reliability of H20 fleas. The fears relate more precisely to the possibility that these chips can be deactivated remotely or localized.
