According to the latest assessment, 80 cows perished in a violent fire at the Maurice Gagné dairy farm and son on the way to the 3rd-Rang-du-Bic in Rimouski on Wednesday evening.
The head of division at the operations of the fire service of the city of Rimouski, Louis Pageau, confirms having received a call around 5:30 p.m. for a fire inside an agricultural building.
We already saw the plume of smoke in the sky from Rimouski.
Wednesday evening, firefighters reported a hundred dead cows, but a further analysis brought the number to 80.
The firefighters fought the flames for several hours.

From the farm of the farm, only six animals could be saved, according to Louis Pageau. There was no one injured on the scene.

The cause of the fire is accidental. The thesis of the criminal fire is therefore not retained by fire service of the city of Rimouski.
Firefighters also triggered the general alarm due to weather conditions. There was a lot of warmth. There were risks of heat strokes also for firefighters

Five tankers, as well as two fellow trucks were necessary to fight the fire. The operation lasted around five hours.
The fire is now fully controlled.
The building is a total loss.
