Customs prices: first notice of RHT announced and approved

According to SECO, up to 916 workers could be affected by partial unemployment due to American customs duties.

The first Swiss companies announced notice of work schedule reductions due to American customs duties. Twelve announcements have already been approved in July.

This corresponds to 2.9% of all the pre-authorizations granted in July, the State Secretariat for the Economy (SECO) said on Monday in Keystone-ATS. According to him, up to 916 workers could be affected by partial unemployment due to American customs duties.

In June, more than 30,000 workers were authorized to receive partial unemployment benefits. Experience shows that for a good half of them, partial unemployment is actually deducted.

Compared to other crises, this figure is in the order of magnitude of the first shock of the Swiss franc in 2011. The current appeal to compensation in the event of reduction of the work schedule is at a “much lower level” compared to the financial crisis and the COVVI-19 crisis, adds the SECO.

The additional customs duties of 39% on Swiss imports in the United States entered into force last Thursday.
