Everything was played in the last climb to Antagnes, after some 110 kilometers of effort. Elise Chabbey went to the attack at the top and gave everything in the descent. The Urska Zigart yellow jersey failed to follow the Swiss. Worse, the runner AG Insurance-Sudal fell in love under pressure in the descent that followed and went to visit the backyard of a corner owner.

On Saturday, at the top of Tzoumaz (VS), Elise Chabbey had assured that he had won the best success of her career. She probably revised her judgment this Sunday. Admittedly, she was beaten in the sprint by Hungarian Blanka Vas. But the 11 seconds apart on the line and the 4 seconds of bonus were enough to get ahead of the partner of Tadej Pogacar in his unexpected quest for the yellow jersey, won in the end for seven seconds on Zigart and twenty on the Dutch Yara Kastelijn.

Elise Chabbey’s panache

In the morning, about twenty runners tried to take a step ahead of the favorites. Their attack, which counted as much as possible a few two minutes ahead, ended up having a long time. But as soon as the teammates of Elise Chabbey and other leaders took matters into hand, the gap has only been inexorably reduced. The fugitives were taken up at a dozen terminals from the finish.

In the end, it did it for the Geneva. It allowed the spectacle of the last two days to make the incredible imbroglio of the first forget, when five teams of favorites were eliminated before it even took the start of Villars-sur-Ollon.

The FDJ-Suez runner has shown a huge plume, when she announced that she did not aim for the general of “his” round in recent days. She ended up winning her first step in the World Tour and her first general at the highest level.

The other Swiss in sight

When the big cats are not there, the Swiss mice dance. Thus, the Swiss, especially those of the Nexetis team mounted from scratch by the Swiss Cycling Federation, were also able to highlight.

On Saturday, the Grisons Ginia Caluori (9th in the end) was delighted with the best in the mountains. On Sunday, her teammate Noelle Ingold spent the day at the front. Even better, in addition to the Chabbey recital, the mountain biker Steffi Häberlin (SD World-Protime) finished a superb fifth place in the final general.
