The Minister of the Economy, Éric Lombard, unveiled on Wednesday July 16 the new rate of the booklet A which will be, from August 1, lowered to 1.7 %. A new decline which calls into question its effectiveness a little more. So you think the booklet is still worth it?

New drastic decrease in booklet A which has reached its lowest percentage since 2009. The Banque de France and the Minister of the Economy, Éric Lombard, announced, Wednesday, July 16, a decline in the rate of booklet A from 2.4 to 1.7 %, from August 1. This is his second drop since the start of the year, since he had already gone from 3 to 2.4 % at the start of the year. For the Banque de France, this new rate remains however “clearly above the level of inflation of June which has established at 1 %”.

Always used by the French, in particular thanks to the opportunity to keep guaranteed and exemption savings, more than 600 billion euros are accumulated on booklets A and sustainable and solidarity development booklets (LDDS). These two booklets respectively capped at 22,950 euros and 12,000 euros.

A fall that is explained by two factors

This strong drop in the rate of the booklet A is explained for two reasons related to its calculation method: the average inflation rate (excluding tobacco) and the average interbank interest rate depending on European monetary policy have largely fell on the first half of 2025. The rate of 1.7 % will nevertheless be happy since social housing actors, who borrow at the rate of booklet A, and banks will have less interest year.
