The Ministry of Health and the Japanese Embassy in the DRC concluded a new partnership on Monday August 04 in Kinshasa on Monday, as part of the official implementation of the MPOX epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Estimated at 4.2 million US dollars, this program aims to take care of 200 experienced cases.
These are in particular more vulnerable cases; the vaccination of 250,000 contacts, with suitable logistics; treatment of more than 3,700 children with acute malnutrition; strengthening infrastructure for prevention and control of infections in 12 health zones across the country; training and mobilization of 3,500 community actors, to strengthen awareness, reduce stigma and encourage membership of public health measures; Social support for affected families, with an approach to child protection and psychosocial support.

It strengthens community resilience, improves the health logistics chain and contributes to strengthening human capital in the most affected areas. This project is also part of the “One Health” approach, which takes into account the human, animal and environmental determinants of health.
