Eternal Renaud Lavillenie, again champion of France at La Perche, a first since 2020

Renaud Lavillenie was crowned this Sunday for the 11th time champion of France at the outdoor pole, during the French athletics championships in Talence. A real performance at almost 39 years old.

At 38, Renaud Lavillenie won his first title of champion of France in Talence (Gironde) this Sunday in Talence (Gironde) since 2020, the 11th outdoors, crossing a bar at 5.82 m.

By counting the outdoor and indoor titles, the former world record holder (6.16 m) now has 19 titles of champion of France.

Only two jumps were enough

At almost 39 years old, the veteran only needed two jumps to rule out the competition: he started his competition at 5.65 m, when the French champion Thibaut Collet began his at 5.40 m.

In difficulty this season, the 25-year-old Grenoblois then stumbled three times to 5.82 m, minimum bar for the Worlds in Tokyo (September 13-21).

After skipping at 5.72 m, Lavillenie spent 5.82 from his first try, a height he had already crossed twice this season. The 2012 Olympic champion tried to improve his best jump of the season with a 5.92 m bar, which he failed to pass.
