FIBA Europe has changed its qualifying system for the rest establishing two laps. The first will concern 27 countries divided into 6 groups of four and a group of three. The first two and the 3 best thirds will be qualified for the second round where they join the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain and Turkey. Or countries to compete in qualifying tournaments for the World Cup.
From this second round (6 groups of 4) will extricate the first two from each group to train with the four host countries the plateau of 16 at Euro 2027.
Particularity of qualifications, three matches per window will be played in November 2025 and March 2026 for the first round, November 2026 and February 2027 for the second.
The Belgian Cats will also play one of the qualifying tournaments in March 2026 for the 2026 World Cup in Berlin (from September 4 to 13), even if there too, Belgium is already qualified for winning the Euro last month.
