The 2nd line will be made up of the British Lando Norris (McLaren), winner of the two previous meetings, in Austria and Great Britain, 3rd to 618 thousandths, and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), 4th to 768 thousandths. The 3rd will bring together the French Esteban Ocon (Haas) and the Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr (Williams).
Two surprises marked the Q1, dominated by Piastri in 1: 41,769, with the eliminations of the British Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), 18th, and the Italian Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), 20th. Both held a teddy. They had signed the pole of sprints respectively in Shanghai and Miami. The German Nico Hülkenberg (Sauber), 3rd in the GP of Great Britain, was also dismissed immediately with the 17th time,
Norris offered the best time in Q2 in 1: 41.412, Piastri was scared by signing only the 10th time at 716 thousandths. The British George Russell (Mercedes) was however eliminated with the 13th time at 918 thousandths.
After the Sprint race, the program on Saturday will still include the qualification session at 4:00 p.m.. The start of the Grand Prix, 44 rpm (or two hours) will be given on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
Lewis Hamilton is the last winner. He signed his 5th victory in Belgium at the wheel of a Mercedes. Charles Leclerc obtained the pole in 2024 in 1: 53,754 (in the rain).
PiaStri is a championship leader with 234 points ahead of Norris (226), Verstappen (165), Russell (147), Leclerc (119) and Hamilton (103).
The previous tour record belonged to Hamilton in 1: 41,252 and had been produced during the qualifications of the Grand Prix in 2020.
The last three sprint races of the season will run on October 18 at the GP in the United States, Austin, November 8 at the GP of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and on November 29 at the GP of Qatar, in Losail.
