Code name: Hypernova. This is the name of a new Meta intelligent glasses model, a kind of improvement in Ray-Ban Meta, a new version that we were talking about last spring.
The rumor spoke of an outing at the end of 2025. However, according to the Bloomberg agency, Meta would have advanced its calendar to occupy the field in the face of competition, in particular in the face of Google intelligent glasses project (in partnership with Kering Eyewear, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster), but also the Xiaomi Ai Glasses, the Rayneo X2 of TLC Electronics, Eagle de HTC … not to mention other projects carried out by smaller structures. The connected glasses market is gradually structured and already represents a considerable economic or even societal issue.
Imminent arrival of hypernova?
Hypernova intelligent glasses may well arrive on the market in Septemberaccording to Bloomberg. Unlike an immersive helmet, too demanding in power and autonomy, these frames would integrate a mini-screen placed in front of the right eye, capable of displaying small applications in the form of “widgets”, like a smartphone.
This model would be controlled via a neural bracelet capable of detecting nerve impulses during finger movements – already promising technology, tested on the Orion prototype.
Break the prices
On the price side, Meta would have seen her ambitions downwards : While a rate greater than around $ 1,300 was initially envisaged, Bloomberg now discusses a price around $ 800. An even high positioning compared to other existing models which cost more between 300 and 500 euros.
As for uses, the vagueness remains. Meta will be able to rely on its Instagram and WhatsApp applications to offer many services, while Google is already on Maps to offer promising augmented reality guidance.
In the longer term, Meta would prepare for 2027 a more advanced version, called “Artemis”, offering a binocular display. By then, the progress expected in artificial intelligence could open the way for new interfaces.
