Two 85 -year -old men and an 86 -year -old woman had to be evacuated to a hospital in Toulouse.

A fire broke out on the night of Sunday to Monday on Monday on the ground floor of a retirement home near Toulouse, making 17 injured, of which a dozen had to be evacuated, the firefighters said.

Intoxicated by important smoke releases in this EHPAD in Isle -Jourdain (Gers), three victims in absolute emergency – two 85 -year -old men and an 86 -year -old woman – had to be evacuated to Purpan hospital in Toulouse.

Some 70 fire soldiers and 25 rescue vehicles were mobilized shortly before 3 am to respond to this disaster triggered by a mattress fire and which generated “Lots of smoke on the floors”said a spokesperson for the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of Gers.

In all, 81 people were in the establishment, including 75 residents and 6 employees. “The establishment will not be used at first given the damage caused by the fumes of the fire”warned the SDIS.
