Football (Belgian Cup): Pont-à-Celles reassured himself with the cup

The Belgian Cup course suggests real potential that will have to be confirmed in the championship. “We have quickly reached a certain level, even if several holders left us this summer. We will still have to treat realism. The staff pushes us not to relax. On Sunday, we will receive Mouscron, who is already a big piece. We will know more about our level after this first championship match.”

A good state of mind

Thomas Van Roosendael has been evolving under the colors of Pont-à-Celles for ten years. At 34, he is the most experienced player in the nucleus. He will therefore have to serve as a guide for his young team members.“I have to help them manage their emotions during the match. I have to talk to young people and, often, repeat them the same instructions. But I am happy to evolve in this team. There is a good state of mind. The guys respect the colors and values of the club. We work hard. Besides, we are already well physically advanced. We must say that we have long training sessions.”

The captain feels good at the start of the season. “The supporters and the leaders tell me that they see that I evolve at a good level. I still hope to be able to play a few seasons.” In Pont-à-Celles? “I am in this club. I do not see the usefulness of changing even for a few euros more. Besides, when the club went down in P1, I stayed. It was my way of showing the respect I have for my club.”
